We have a data catalog — we know what data is stored where We have a business glossary linking business terms to database fields We track data lineage — we know where data comes from and how it transforms A new employee can find the data they need without asking colleagues Data documentation is up to date (not older than 6 months)

We have a defined "source of truth" for key entities (customer, product, vendor) Product identifiers (EAN/SKU/ERP index) are mapped across systems The same customer has one consistent identifier in CRM, ERP, and e-commerce Changes in master data (e.g. new product) propagate automatically to all systems Product/category hierarchies are consistent across ERP, online store, and analytics

Data access is controlled (RBAC) — not everyone sees everything Personal data is tagged and subject to special safeguards (masking, encryption) We have GDPR consent management in place A breach notification procedure exists — we know what to do in case of a data leak We regularly review and update user permissions

We have designated roles: Data Owner, Data Steward, or equivalent A Data Governance Council or regular data quality meetings exist Employees are trained on data management principles (onboarding, workshops) Decisions are made based on data, not gut feeling (data-driven culture) Data quality KPIs are part of regular executive reporting
